West Seattle High Bridge

Seattle, WA

Project Description

The West Seattle High Bridge is a cantilevered segmental bridge connecting West Seattle to the rest of the city. Built in the 1980’s, the bridge formed rapidly growing cracks in 2020 that required immediate attention. A crack arrest repair was performed by the application of carbon-fiber-reinforced-polymer (CFRP) to the outside face of the bottom soffit and webs. A self launching access platform was used to give access for applying the CFRP. McNary Bergeron is part of the selected Kraemer North America team for completing the long-term bridge rehabilitation.
