Project Description

The Riyadh Metro is a rapid transit with 6 metro lines spanning a total length of 176 kilometers, and 85 stations. McNary Bergeron provided construction engineering for the precast segmental span-by-span and balanced cantilever construction, using five overhead launching gantries and two segment lifters, as well as a cast-in-place segmental cantilever using a form traveler for Bechtel Almabani, CCC, Siemens. The first segment was erected November 7, 2015. The last span was completed December 26, 2017. It took just over two years to erect 6,709 precast segments.

Our Role

Provided Construction Engineering services for an aerial guideway that has over 600 spans of single box, dual box, and station platforms. The guideway is built using 5 overhead launching gantries for span-by-span construction and two sets of mobile segment lifters for balanced cantilever construction. The 600+ spans range in width from 4.5 meters to 17 meters and have a maximum segment weight of 83 tonnes.
