Our Role

MBJ designed a precast soffit system for the Contractor, which aided in construction of the main river pier footings. These pier footings extend below the water line and support the bascule superstructure. The soffit system streamlined construction by allowing substructure construction in the dry, below the waterline, without the need for cofferdams. The two piers varied in size, with the largest being 60’ wide x 86’ long x 22’-9” thick.
