Our Role
McNary Bergeron is providing construction engineering for the two waterway bridges (596 and 597). Bridge 596 has 11 spans, each with a prestressed deck bulb tee superstructure founded on concrete pile foundations. Bridge 597 is 6 spans long, each 150’ long, with prestressed NEBT girders spanning between concrete piers.
Bridge 596 is being built in a top-down fashion. MBJ provided erection procedures, analysis, and temporary works for the top-down construction scheme. For Bridge 597, MBJ provided the access trestle design and erection details for various precast components.

Construction Method and Specifications
Bridge 596: Top-down construction with crawler cranes supported on previous concrete girder spans. Extensive use of precast components (piles, pier caps, deck bulb tees) to help streamline construction.
Bridge 597: Conventional construction from crane trestle. Extensive use of precast components (footing tubs, substructure columns, pier caps, and prestressed girders) to help streamline construction.
