Project Description

The project consists of the reconfiguration of the I-57/I-74 interchange just west of Champaign. The two new flyover ramps, which consist of curved steel plate girders, will connect eastbound I-74 to northbound I-57 and westbound I-74 to southbound I-57.

Our Role

MBJ is providing construction engineering services to White Construction, LLC. This includes steel girder analysis, erection procedures, and temporary pier bracket designs.

Construction Method and Specifications

The curved steel girders are erected using cranes. Pier brackets are used to temporarily support the pier girders until the drop-in girders are erected.
